apple Chutney

1 ¼ pounds sour cooking apples peeled and cut into pieces,

650 grams chopped onions,

2 lemons in half thin slices,

300 grams of raisins,

2 cloves garlic minced,

5 cups of cider vinegar,

400 grams dark brown sugar,

1 tablespoon salt,

1 teaspoon ground ginger,

1 teaspoon of cinnamon,

1 teaspoon tumeric

 

Bereiding

Put the apples with onions, lemons, raisins, garlic and vinegar in a saucepan

Bring to the boil and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until apples are tender but still slightly firm. Add the sugar and stir until it has dissolved  Leave to simmer for 30-45 minutes until most of the liquid has evaporated and the mixture is thick. Remove the pan from the heat and add salt and spices Spoon the chutney into hot sterilized jars and seal them

.After one month, the chutney edible. Shelf life 1 year
